Jejunostomy replacement without fluoro Re: Question ID 8977

Date: Nov 10, 2021

Question:

In reference to question ID 8977 answered back in 2017, the unlisted code was recommended for a J-tube change without fluoroscopy. In 2019, code 43762 was introduced: 43762; Replacement of gastrostomy tube, percutaneous, includes removal, when performed, without imaging or endoscopic guidance; not requiring revision of gastrostomy tract.

When a J-tube is replaced without fluoro guidance, is the recommendation still an unlisted procedure code, or would 43762 be appropriate now? Code 43762 only references a gastrostomy tube, so it's not clear whether this could also be used for other colonic tube replacements without imaging guidance.
