Oct. 1 MUE updates email

Date: Oct 15, 2018

Question:

I just reviewed the information in the email. It appears that the MUEs for peripheral vascular interventions have decreased from 2 to 1. My concern is for the bilateral iliac kissing balloon interventions. Are these no longer allowed? For example, 37221-RT, 37221-59LT. The next question has to do with bilateral lower extremity interventions during the same hospital stay. It appears that we are no longer able to intervene on a 'staged' basis. For example, diagnostic angio with intervention on the right leg initial day. Return to room, hydrate, etc. and bring them back on the next day for the left leg intervention. Is my understanding accurate?
