Session Details:
Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology Coding
Seminar Day: Monday (see schedule for times)
Price: $325
(CEUs: AAPC - 3.5, ASRT - 4.0)
This
half-day session reviews anatomy and focuses on coding guidelines for
non-vascular interventions. This includes (but is not limited to) the
following: biliary, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, spinal, breast
interventions, biopsies, drainages, and ablations.
Coding Basics for Vascular Coding
Seminar Days: Monday and Tuesday (see schedule for times)
Price: $325
(CEUs: AAPC - 4.5, ASRT - 5.0)
This
half-day session focuses on basic catheter selection coding. It is
intended for newcomers but is also a good review for intermediate
coders. This session is delivered at a relatively slow pace with
opportunities for questions. Catheter placement coding today is integral
to IR, endovascular, and cardiovascular procedures. Important concepts
are covered, including: the concept of vascular families, the importance
of variant anatomy, and selective vs. non-selective catheter
placements. There is also a discussion of S&I codes that must be
performed selectively and S&I codes that include catheter
placements. Many examples are provided to facilitate learning.
Peripheral Vascular Diagnostic and Interventional Coding
Seminar Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (see schedule for times)
Price: $1,300
(CEUs: AAPC - 14.0, ASRT - 15.0)
This
two-day session covers "best practices" for coding and billing vascular
procedures for physicians and hospitals, along with common mistakes
that reduce coding and billing accuracy rates. This is followed by a
review of terminology, anatomy, and physiology pertinent to the vascular
system. We focus on catheter placements and diagnostic angiography of
the arterial, venous, portal, and pulmonary systems. Interventional
procedures in the vascular system are reviewed, including: central
venous access, IVC filter placement, foreign body retrieval, venous
sampling, angioplasty, atherectomy, stent placement, stent graft
placement, infusion therapy, embolization, thrombectomy, dialysis
intervention, TIPS, and neurointerventional procedures.
Coding for Cardiovascular Procedures
Seminar Days: Thursday and Friday (see schedule for times)
Price: $650
(CEUs: AAPC - 5.5, ASRT - 7.5)
This
one-day session is primarily a detailed discussion of diagnostic and
therapeutic cardiology procedures, including the specific rules
regarding the coding of: angiography, coronary arterial and cardiac
chamber interventions, diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology
procedures, and pacemaker and ICD procedures. We also briefly review
peripheral vascular procedures that are performed in the cardiac
catheterization laboratory during or separate from a cardiac
catheterization**. Lastly, we cover pediatric cardiac catheterization
and interventions.
**Those involved with peripheral interventions in the cath lab should consider also attending "Peripheral Vascular Diagnostic and Interventional Coding" and/or "Coding Basics for Vascular Coding", as peripheral vascular procedures performed in the cath lab are only briefly discussed in the cardiology session.
Which sessions are right for you?
These live seminars are for hospital coders, HIM directors, physician office staff and coders, technologists, compliance officers, business office personnel, nurse auditors, physicians, and all others involved in the coding and billing process of these complex procedures. We review procedures that occur in the interventional radiology (IR) suite, the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology (EP) laboratory, operating room, endovascular suite, and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).
Which ZHealth Publishing medical coding seminar program is best for you?
- For medical professionals involved with non-vascular IR procedures, vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, and cardiology procedures, we recommend attending all of our sessions.
- For medical professionals newly involved with peripheral vascular coding, we recommend starting with "Coding Basics for Vascular Coding", which provides an overview of general concepts and rules of vascular coding.
- For medical professionals only involved in peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional vascular coding, we recommend continuing with "Peripheral Vascular Diagnostic and Interventional Coding". This applies to IR, peripherals in the cath lab, and endovascular surgery centers.
- For medical professionals who only review cardiology, electrophysiology, and pacemaker/defibrillator procedures, we recommend "Coding for Cardiovascular Procedures".
- For medical professionals who perform a significant number of peripheral procedures in the catheterization lab, we recommend attending "Peripheral Vascular Diagnostic and Interventional Coding" as well.
- For medical professionals who review all aspects of interventional radiology (including vascular and non-vascular procedures) but not involved in cardiology coding, we recommend attending "Peripheral Vascular Diagnostic and Interventional Coding" along with "Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology" and "Coding Basics for Vascular Coding" as needed.
