This scan in the immediate suprapubic region was anesthetized with 1% lidocaine. Deeper anesthesia with a spinal needle was utilized. Using ultrasound guidance, a 5 French Yueh catheter was introduced into the urinary bladder, and a 0.035 Amplatz guidewire was advanced. Several dilators were then utilized, followed by placement of a 14 French pigtail multipurpose catheter, which was formed within the urinary bladder. Small amount of contrast was injected, confirming location of the pigtail catheter within the urinary bladder. Catheter was secured to the skin using 2-0 Prolene suture.
