Coding Question:   I love your online service, it has been so very helpful! My question concerns a LTD TEE. My phy have dictated that a Ltd TEE was performed as a guidance for a PFO closure. Is the Ltd TEE reportable, or considered part of the PFO closure, or is it considered US guidance, 76942? Thank you for your help!

Dr Z’s Answer: Most likely he is utilizing the TEE to guide the PFO closure device safely into its location.   There is a code 93318, TEE for monitoring during cardiac intervention, that sounds like it may be more appropriate. I would have to see the entire report, but this may give you a lead. If ICE were utilized, then 93662 would most likely be the code.
