ZHealth Publishing Coding Seminar FAQs
Additional information about ZHealth Publishing medical coding seminars
A. They are for both professional and technical billing. When there is a difference between the coding for the two, which is rare, the difference is identified.
A. No, ICD-9 coding is not in the scope of the information covered. If there are particular diagnoses that nationally restrict coverage (such as those involving carotid stent placement), those coverage issues will be discussed.
A. A current CPT code book is the only required resource. Cases will be coded both in class and outside of class. The paper copies of key anatomical charts to select catheter placement codes are part of the class handouts.
A. If you are both doing the same type of cases, you should attend the same sessions. Each person will go away with different knowledge from the sessions, as we all learn differently. Similarly, we have individuals who repeat the seminar as often as afforded because they always take away new knowledge. However, if one of you is from IR and the other from cardiology, you may want to attend different sessions, as not all of the information in all sessions will be pertinent to you.
A. The seminar information is updated every quarter with any new guidelines and information that has been published since the previous seminar. In addition, our repeat customers tell us they pick up something new every time. It is often something they missed in the previous session due to the amount of information presented.
A. The cardiology session is specific to cardiology and does not include peripheral angiography and interventional coding. If your physician is performing peripheral studies, as most cardiologists are, you should attend the "Diagnostic and Interventional Vascular Coding" session as well.
A. No, they are only available in hard copy and are handed out at the conference.
A. We currently discourage the use of any electronic media during the sessions. They have proven a distraction and interfere with the pace of the program.
A. The seminar is for all individuals who are involved in charging, coding, and auditing these specialty procedures to include coders, billers, physicians, nurses, technologists, consultants, and other healthcare professionals. The emphasis is on CPT coding, so a basic understanding of how charges translate to codes is helpful. You may also want to take the optional "Introduction to Vascular Coding" session to better prepare you for the basic seminar.
A. No, you will not be called on. Answering questions when they are asked is voluntary. Do not be afraid, however, to ask questions when you are unclear about a subject. It is a very casual format and questions from attendees are encouraged.
A. No, we do not provide discounts in the situation described. We believe the course is well worth the fee. However, if you are a ZHealthpublishing.com website member (which your hospital may be willing to fund), you receive a 10% discount on all products, including the seminar. The other option is to sign up for our webinars, which don't involve travel costs, and allow multiple people to participate for one price.
A. All topics covered in the CIRCC exam are included in the ZHealth Publishing seminars. We cannot guarantee you will pass the CIRCC exam after attending the seminar as it will depend on your basic understanding of the concepts and how well you retain the information discussed. Everyone has a different learning curve, and it will depend on where you are in that curve. The AAPC also requires documentation of at least two (2) years of experience charging or coding of the specialty.
A. Yes, the course is approved for education credits to maintain the CIRCC credential.

A. Call us at 615-807-1152 (9:00-5:00PM Central Time Mon-Fri) for an alternate hotel. There is usually another hotel available that is within walking distance. A. A continental breakfast and a full lunch are provided each day. Dinners are on your own.
A. Yes, there is usually ample space at the back of the room to keep your luggage until it is time for you to go.
