Who should attend these seminars? Hospital coders, HIM directors, physician office staff and coders, technologists, compliance officers, business office personnel, nurse auditors, physicians, and others involved in the coding and billing process for these complex procedures. Procedures reviewed during the seminar occur in the interventional radiology (IR) suite, the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology (EP) laboratory, operating room, endovascular suite, and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs).
Not exactly sure which ZHealth Publishing medical coding seminar program is best for you? Here’s some advice from Dr. Zielske:
- For medical professions involved with non-vascular IR procedures, vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, and cardiology procedures, I recommend attending all of our sessions (Tuesday through Friday).
- For medical professionals newly involved with peripheral vascular coding, I recommend starting with our Introduction to Vascular Coding, an overview of general concepts and rules of vascular coding (Tuesday afternoon session).
- For medical professionals, new or experienced, who are involved only in peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional radiology coding, I would recommend continuing with our Diagnostic & Interventional Vascular Coding (Wednesday and Thursday sessions).
- For medical professionals who only review cardiology, electrophysiology, and pacemaker/defibrillator procedures, I would recommend our Diagnostic & Interventional Cardiology Coding (Friday sessions). This will include an overview of peripheral procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization lab, however, if your physician or facility performs a significant number of peripheral procedures in the catheterization lab, I recommend adding the Diagnostic & Interventional Vascular Coding sessions (Wednesday and Thursday).
- For medical professionals who review all aspects of interventional radiology (including vascular and non-vascular procedures) but not involved in cardiology coding, I would recommend attending Diagnostic & Interventional Vascular Coding (Wednesday and Thursday sessions) along with Non Vascular Interventional Radiology (Tuesday morning session) and the Introduction to Vascular Coding, as needed.
