12/01/2009, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm This session will focus on diagnostic and interventional peripheral CPT® coding for procedures commonly performed by the cardiologist during or separate from a cardiac catheterization procedure. Catheter placement codes, S&I codes for diagnostic imaging, and peripheral interventional codes will be discussed and demonstrated through a variety of common case scenarios. Use of anatomical charts throughout the talk will help the attendee better understand these concepts.

California Health Information Association – Peripheral Vascular Interventional Coding Seminar

Comment: This seminar will review coding for the majority of vascular procedures performed by radiologists and some cardiologist and vascular surgeons. These physicians may perform these procedures in an angiography suite, in the cardiac catheterization lab or in the operating room. They include procedures as simple as diagnostic angiography to as complex as neuroembolization procedures performed with the latest techniques. Error rates among hospitals and physician billing practices remain quite high in these percutaneous vascular interventions, resulting in compliance and revenue risk. The program will include an update on the latest changes for coding of complex peripheral vascular interventions for 2009 and any changes available for 2010.
